What time of day or night visits from moose wallows?
I've been a hunter of deer archery successfully for many years and decided to go after an elk this year. My tag allows moose of both sexes. I found a nice rub and scratch roll gives me great coverage. I would like limit my time sitting in wait for my hound season just opened and I'm out almost every night running my dogs. For those of you who always jump on me hunting dog, $ @ #% off! You know nothing about my sport, and until you try it yourself, do not want to hear it. It is the most physically demanding hunt I've done! Also do not hunt deer with dogs. For here we are raccoon, bobcat, bear and cougar. For both values of the skin and protect livestock and crops. Of Anyway if anyone has a time of day would be better off in my tree stand waiting for the moose to wallow really appreciated.
There is really no is a set time. When you feel like it really is the best answer. So you are hunting from a treestand? Not a bad way to get a moose, but there better ways. If you are going to use a stand I'd be darn sure that moose often wallow wallow in the squat on you. Otherwise, there may be changed. The best way to hunt elk is to make tons of exploration and use of bugles and cow calls, trying to call a bull on the range during the rut in early very early September to October. Find out where the elk to bed down during the week and leave their beds. In general, a herd will stay in the area near a bed, and that for half the day. That will make the most of your trip before noon or so. So if you can keep track of a herd their Beds come back next morning and make some calls, should be able to locate and stalk of a good bull. Over 70% of elk in the Pope and the log book young people have taken in the morning. Hope this makes sense and helps!
