Will there be a hunting season for bald eagles?

I read in "American Gun and Hunter" magazine that the bald eagle population is now at 10,000, and when it reaches 15,000 (est. 5-7 years) there is a proposal to make available label 1000, by lot, for the eagles. The states with the largest population of eagles would be assigned the most labels. Hunters are allowed to hunt with central fire rifles, shotguns, or archery equipment. The article said that this would be legal for any American to possess eagle feathers. As it is now only Native Americans can own eagle feathers. Many hunters think that a bald eagle would make a nice trophy, but many disagree.

Yes there will be. I subscribe to "American Gun and Hunter "and read the same article. There is already a waiting list but I submitted my name and I am looking forward to the game. I'll use a rifle and can only I hope you do not hit the eagle's head off because I ride my den. I am an avid hunter and have had the privilege of hunting snow leopards, California condors and pandas. I had stuffed and displayed around my house now. On a side note, I am having trouble finding a place for my last catch, a humpback whale. And by the way, a bit of information for eyecandykustoms, you're not going to jail for picking a poppy. You can be fined for the collection, destruction or excavation of a California poppy though.
