Can a Beagle be taught to bird hunt?

I enjoy dove and quail hunting in north Texas and own a Beagle.

I’ve always had beagles and they were mainly rabbit dogs but they also flushed pheasants and woodcock. They have excellent noses and can smell the birds. Mine won’t pick up the woodcocks though. There are no quail where I hunt in NY or PA. and I’ve never used them for dove but they should do fine. Good luck.
