looking for a nice rifle?
I'm considering buying a new rifle soon, and I want to see what my options are. If you know a rifle that fits this profile, TELL ME! Please! By the way, is a 0243. Criteria: Fairly short barrel, 18-22 inches, 22 which is the most absolute. I want this to be a compact rifle that can have a Ministry of Agriculture. Synthetic stock, I want to be able to take a beating in the sagebrush in eastern Oregon to hunt mule deer and coyote. Bolt, I do not want an AR-15 due to weight. Between $ 500 and $ 1200 MSRP.
I hunt in Idaho, and I'd rather have a longer barrel, simply because the 2 or 4 extra inches length does not affect my lead and greatly effect accuracy. I Browning A-bolt that I have 5 sets of sockets can be covered with a quarter. Taking into account the likely 300 photographs taken mulier yards more than 50 meters, I would opt for the 270 over the 243, only an improvement in the speed / energy retention that consistent range. Yes, the 0243 will work, and my son has one, but not for making 300 shots in the courtyard of mule deer most of the time. You need to use quality bullet bonded to the deer in the two cases. The 270 can be used for yotes too, just use 100 grain V-Max. 140 or 150 in system easement would be perfect for deer. This is one of those situations where you have to see what your average on hunting will be, and 270, or 270 WSM matches up better than 243. I'm really impressed with the Tikka T3, and it sounds like what you want. $ 500 you get a blue / stainless synthetic rifle is $ 600.I plan on getting my son a Tikka when you're ready to update his shot just 243.
