Hunting Enthusiast

I used to have a garden
in Alaska, you must stay busy
what with the Sun,
chasing the day away
for the big Moon to shine
and those darn Moose…they eat

everything grew so quickly
what with the end chasing
the seeds of before
before too late froze them

in situ, I find myself there
under early morning Sun shadows
in my garden, pulling carrots
staring at basketballs of cabbage
hidden under the rhubarb
lost in a cool breeze, soon
passing Mt. Iliamna, settling
over Cook Inlet and calling
the Moose to come and get it

the back strap tastes like…Moose

I shot a swamp chicken when I was 15…I ate it….never again…but I will fish for food
