East Texas hog hunting

East Texas hog hunting is a popular event for archers and shooters. And although Texas is not the only state that offers wild hog hunting, Texas is by far the most popular place to do it. Why? Shear numbers. Texas is home to more than 2 million wild pigs, representing over 50% of the population of wild hogs across the U.S.. Wild pigs are densely populated in almost every county in this state, particularly East Texas.

While hog hunting in Texas may be less popular than deer hunting, turkey hunting or duck hunting in many ways may be more difficult. hog hunting requires different skills and knowledge, so if your intent on success, here are five important tips to make your next wild hog hunting more enjoyable and productive.

1) Hunter Safety – One of the most important things to remember about pigs is that can be very dangerous animals. And while you choose "flight over fight" in most circumstances, you can also become very aggressive if wounded or cornered. In short, the pigs do not hesitate to attack humans (or anything else for that matter) if necessary.

I've seen the speed and agility wild pigs firsthand. Hunting with a partner, or hunting from a tree stand are two of the best forms of security.

2) The challenge bigger – If you are looking for more evidence and a challenge, try to catch wild pigs with a bow. The use of a rifle can be challenging enough for many hunters, and certainly has its advantages if they intend to "bring home the bacon." But hunting with bow presents the full test of ingenuity, skill and good fortune. For at least, a bow, you will need to take a closer, more deliberate shot.

3) Hunting Season – One of the other unique aspects of hog hunting in east Texas is no restriction on the season, bag limit (if you can call it that), the species or sex. You can shooting pigs in Texas year round, and can shoot up to the landowner and hunting skills, are allowed.

Pigs are so prolific in Texas are similar to dove hunting in Argentina. The pigeon population in Argentina is so great that many local farmers and ranchers are happy to see the output of control population decreased temporarily.

Pigs play at alarming rates, often have two litters a year with a maximum of 10 to 12 piglets litter. They eat anything and everything (plants and animals) that are destructive to the earth, and compete with other wild species of limited food sources. And they also are known to be carriers of disease. No wonder that the State has a very open policy when it comes to hunting wild pig.

4) Time Day – As the deer, pigs are nocturnal and feed mostly at night. So the best time to hunt pig in East Texas is late or early in the morning. Night hunting is complicated, so make sure you have permission from the local game warden, and the landowner in advance.

5) Licensing – I have read several articles presumably well meaning authors have completely distorted by Texas law to grant licenses for hunting wild pig. I am not a lawyer, so I will refrain from giving advice on what the law says, but my best advice is not legal for each hunter is that the safest approach and iron-clad licensing is to maintain a valid hunting license with you at all times. I even go so far as to say that licensing is comparable to the old American Express card mantra, "Do not leave home without it." You never know when it might be useful.

The State of Texas has adopted a program on-line license, which allows hunters to get a license without having to waste time in long lines at retail stores. Is stress-free and 100% the fees charged for licensing will support Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission. It's good to know that rates are not being channeled to other projects state, or the financing of the activities of some unrelated programs.

So now that you're ready for the challenge of the hog hunting in East Texas have a look at one of the most ability to do so. Texas.com Pig Hunting This is a paradise for pigs and pig hunters.
