Looking for a new rifle, but I can not decide between a 7 mm Remington Magnum and .300 Win Mag?

I'm from Oregon and all hunting in the Cordillera Coast and Cascades I currently hunt with a .308 win I know it is very versatile as 0.06. I want something that will be nothing to kill a Black tail, but may drop an elk with one shot. (I realize that bullet placement plays an important role in the effectiveness of the vaccine.)

I say this now: the .300 Win Mag is an exaggeration to accept all that for the bears. Has a strong kick. Ammo is $ 40-50 per box. The cartridge was designed origianaly for the bear, and that is what the IMO must meet. Yes, it can be used for deer, but will also realize that a good circle of 8 12 inches of flesh missing. The 7 mm was designed to solve this problem by not being so bad in excess deer with lighter loads, heavy loads and allow greater play to be taken in areas such as moose or a bear. When hunting brown bear, the largest species, good shot placement is vital. With that knowledge, the 7mm can take any game in North America. Do not get me wrong, so can the 0300, but may be excessive and too expensive for many smaller game. Now let's start the thumb down. EDIT: Michael P, you are wrong. The 0300 allows only 10% -25% more energy, which is not noticeable in anything smaller than endure. Also, do not know where you live, but where I live the 0300 is about 3 or 4 boxes throughout the year.
