There is a beach for swimmers, a lot of open water to water skiers and a fishing pier accessible to disabled guests. Long Branch is known for providing more than respectable catches of bass, crappie and catfish, so that fishermen believe that the perfect place to try your luck and skill. Following the ancient road of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, or "Katy", the clue of its origin in San Carlos and links to the cities of Marthasville, Jefferson City and Boonville before concluding at Clinton. Designed for use by hikers and bicyclists of all ages and abilities, both travel scenic route follows the Missouri River. A limited portion of the Katy is open for riders. Road users find everything from forests to grasslands, valleys, cliffs of the rivers, wetlands and pastures. And Katy's position on Missouri Route guarantees an interesting variety of birds, species every day like robins and charcoal to endangered bald eagles and migration of great blue herons. As expected, there is no shortage of honors awarded for this special membership State Park. Katy Trail St. Charles-de-la section Boonville has been named part of the famous Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. Moreover, the entire route is also a designated Millennium Legacy Trail and an official part of American discovery trail.

Located in southeastern Missouri near Van Buren, Ozark National Scenic waterways were established by the National Park Service in an effort to preserve the highlands of 134 miles of Jack Fork and Current rivers. The reserve is located in a region where wood and pine forests overlap, giving rise to an interesting mix of flora and fauna, including bunches of wildflowers. There numerous springs that feed these rivers, as well as sinks and hundreds of mysterious caves. The primary water-based activities at Ozark National Scenic Waterways are fishing, canoeing, tubing, boating and swimming. The beautiful woods are ideal for terrestrial hiking, hunting, wildlife viewing and horseback riding.
