What would be the easiest way for me to map my hunting ground?
I have 80 acres of land that I like to do and accurate map of. It need not be perfect, but I would like to show things as my cabin is, lots of deer, and trails. I have a GPS unit that can be used to get the coordinates of these things, but what is the best way to plot out?
Download the free version of Google Earth. I give you images air. Go in your earth, walking, and mark points of interest with the handheld GPS. Back at the computer, get out your GPS coordinates and enter them into the search window in Google Earth. For example, if the point where GPS says 31 degrees, 32 minutes, 2.78 seconds north and 94 degrees, 52 minutes, 31.81 seconds west, you'll enter "31 32 2.78n, 94 52 30.81w "in Google Earth. Then I will bring a few meters or less of that place. Once there, you can click the yellow icon in the thumb tack bar Tool and type a name and description. That point will be displayed every time you open Goole Earth on that computer. To print, click the print file. Also can be used in the opposite way. For example, if you see a place on the antenna that you would like to hunt (a swamp, or draw one or something like that), you can hover about this place in Google Earth, enter the latitude and longitude, type in your GPS and navigate to it. I've done this many times duck hunting on public land. Everything looks the same, I would never find the place unless using Google Earth and my hand … Good luck.
