Going Deer hunting this year (first timer)?

I finally talked my dad into taking me.
Im 15 by time deer season rolls around I’ll almost be 16. So what should I expect?
By the way i will be hunting in Northern California In between Modoc County and Lassen County
Oh yea I’m sorry im a terrible person. I’d much rather see a deer get hit by a car then left to suffer in slow death. I think I might just do that! Thanks for the tip!

I hate to answer a question just to point out the sheer stupidity of someone who attempted to answer it, but did Isabella really just respond on a HUNTING forum that she had “never even heard of anything that cruel?” What did she think hunting was about? What does she think wild animals do for food? Go to the Keibler elves for cookies? Good night this woman is deluded. Alright, that rant aside, I do have some advice.

Deer season is cold. You are a 15 year old girl. Cold + you = you complaining that it is cold. Bring a jacket. Bring gloves. Bring another jacket. Don’t upset your dad by complaining.

Make sure you have your dad’s approval before firing. He might have a good reason for not shooting, such as being able to tell that it’s not one of his tags, etc.

Accept that you are going to go out and sit in the dark for up tp 2 hours before you’re even allowed to shoot, and then wait for up to 4 hours before you’ll be heading in, at the very earliest. Your butt and back will hurt. It’s all part of the hunt.

Be silent. Some people are ok with whispering, but I’m not one of them. Don’t be going through velcro pockets, bags of trail mix, opening coke bottles, etc.

Your dad will tell you all of this. Just listen to him and you’ll enjoy yourself, whether or not you come home with anything. Congratulations on your first hunt, and good luck. –Tex.
