What is the smalest caliber you can shoot a deer? ? ?
I live in Kansas and was wondering what lowest round can hunt deer with. .
Looks like Kansas is a minimum requirement of 0,243 for deer hunting. Although 0243 is a good deer cartridge when loaded with a bullet quality controlled expansion as a Nosler Partition or Barnes TSX to 90 grains or more, there are other options that do not put much pressure on a perfect shot chaser. I looking to get something more in line with a 270.25-06, 308.30 to 06 or at least 6.5×55 Swedish. With the larger cartridges to get best selections of bullet weights, which achieve results in better penetration and terminal performance with the ball. We all dream of that perfect shot with the deer standing broadside to us at 100 meters and the shot necessary work that could actually get a shot of barracks where more energy than the .243 can provide. I've seen enough photos Kansas deer know they can be huge, so a higher caliber of 243 that work best and probably the most ethical and sporting use. The advantage of having a cartridge bigger like a 270 or 30 to 06 is the chance to go elk, moose or bear hunting, if you decide to go to Colorado and other nearby states. You really do not need a magnum cartridge, but if you found a good deal on a 270 WSM would be a good option too.
