boar hunting rifle

What’s a good hunting rifle to start with?
I’m familiar with rifles (range shooting), I live in NY, and I’m planning on going hunting for Boar/Dear/Big Game. I researched and read a few articles that mentioned Savage Arms for there design and prices and .308 seemed to be the general consensus for caliber. Thoughts, opinions, advice? Thanks!
I’m a .30-06 fan. It’s a wee bit more powerful than the .308 with a flatter trajectory. It’s also the only factory ammo that has more options than the .308
But whether .308 or .30-06…Marlin makes the perfect inexpensive rifles for those calibers. NOBODY can beat these new Marlins, not even the new Sako I just tested even comes close.
XL-7 for .30-06 or the XS-7 for .308…BOTH are on sale at Academy Sports for $299 each!!
$329 is the regular price, and would still be a great deal at twice that!
