bear hunting handguns

what calibers do you prefer ?
I know today the trend is toweds ballistic charts and large bores, so I expect that, still mine are
Handguns:
1 45 acp target & personal defense
2 9mm target & personal defense
3 22 lr / magnum recreational shooting
Rifles
1 7.62 x 39 mm deer hunting and varmints.
2 22 lr / Magnum for varmints and recreational shooting
3 12 gauge and .410 bore for multi purpose shotguns.
I am thinking of trying out the 327 Federal Magnum so I can use my supply of 32 S & W long for trail gun purposes. Besides I need another revolver, but I haven’t ruled out the 357 magnum/ 38 special either. Any suggestions in regards to the brand I should look at?
Towards not toweds ha sorry
Oh man… let’s see…
For pistols:
1) Tie between the .45 ACP and the 40 S&W b/c of handling and knockdown… a well balanced couple of rounds right there.
2) 9mm because it’s got options for high penetration rounds and higher capacity mags
3) .22 LR because it’s cheap
Rifles:
1) .338 Lapua… because with careful calculations you can land hits at 1,000+ yards easily (and as many as 1,900 yards)
2) 7mm Remington Magnum, likewise, a flat shooter that can easily travel out to 1,000 yards
3) .223 (or 5.56mm), because it handles lightly, gives good range, high penetration, and generally comes in weapons which offer a lot of good defense options.
(of course, we can’t forget .22 LR here either, again because it’s cheap to shoot)
Shotguns:
12 guage 2.75 inch shells (though I do like the options, including less lethal rounds, that the 3.5 offers, but MAN do they kick more)
As to your last question, I grew up shooting a smith and wesson .357 and it never gave any problems. Handled like a charm. If you want something rugged and dependable, I’d say go with one of those.
